state fair's eve

well, here we are again. nearing the end of the fair season at the NC State Fair in raleigh! this spot is a veritable plethora of sensory overload. there is little escaping the continuous ballying, hocking, and roar of the carnival. the carnival, is everywhere, more than 100 rides spread all over the lot in 4, no 5 areas. crazy! it is what it is. that said, here is a little map to help find us....we are just outside (east) of dorton arena. it's the main 'flea market area'.see that knife/fork to the right of the ?mark??. we're at the handle of the knife, next to jack's buns. there is a carousel across from us. the joint is a cute red 'n white tent with a rootbeer barrel in it. we do not set up the truck here any longer, as there is not enough room. bummer. it is what it is..

i'll miss ya if you're out there this weekend, as my scooter antics requires a weekend sleep-over with some of my downtown buddies. have fun! don't miss the art show in the scott bldg. there will be photos hanging by people you know, maybe even by yours truly. if i get by 2nite i'll put a pic of the stand here so you'll know what to look for. crazy crowd 2nite, NC State is hosting Florida State next door at carter -finley! glad i'm on a bike! :-)

great frederick fair

so i did get to go to frederick, and quickly remembered that one doesn't get much free time at gigs like this.. but day one started out raining and baby heffer 'bella' came into the world.
then Beth watched it rain, and I goofed with the camera:

the sunset on sunday was a really nice close to a good weekend!after the weekend I got to venture out and found a flying pig and a cool look at the wheel
with the lensbaby. oh, check out my cool new 'rootbeer man' shirt..






each day Dad makes a run between stands to stock 'em up with his buggy (his concoction)

upon his return, Mom stopped by, and Kathy and Drew showed up for their 'usual':
Two rootbeer floats. Duh.. they come by several times each year, shoot, she sends us photos!

what's an Ag. Fair without a little pony racing? lot's of animal stuf at this show. i missed the alpacas' opening weekend. but caught a longhorn on the last day..


all for now, the rootbeer people are in winston-salem thru 10/12..then it's state fair time in raleigh 10/17-10/26.. more pics then!

with the amazing weather showing no end, the people who "waited for the weekend" were rewarded with a zinger! so were the concessionaires! by mid afternoon it was "straight out" at most of the hot joints. good moods aplenty, the vibe here is sweet as can be when it's buzzing hard. soon, we were all sweating a little from the work tempo:

nothing glows like an open air stand on a pretty night!

holy cow, look at that! over 60 gallons of ice cream and nearly 300 gallons of rootbeer! not bad for one day at a county fair.

with the first day behind us, we've got the bugs out and we're ready to roll. now if the fair could do the same all would be grand! they rearranged our road to much dismay in the neighborhood. time will tell if it works out OK. positive  attitude is all we've got..onward!
